Best of 2005!
There have been lot of ups and downs in the year 2005 musically. Bollywood saw influence of rappers increasing and dilution of traditional music still continuing. Now-a-days, all the songs seems to be same. Some singers and some music directors made impression. This is totally my opinion. Newcomers who made impression were
- Atif (Zeher)
- Shantanu Moitra (Parineeta)
- Himesh Reshamiyya (as singer)
Some of best movies musically were
- Parineeta
- Paheli
- Bunty Aur Bubli
- Veer- Zaara
- Karam
- Kasak
- Aashiq Banaya Aapne
- Bose
- Dus (Hummable)
- Hanuman
- Kyon ki
- Viruddh
- No Entry
- Salaam Namaste
- Waqt
- Zeher
My best songs for this year, (List doesnt signify any order)
- Aashiq Banaya Aapne
- Zikr (Bose- The forgotten hero)
- Kajra re (Bunty Aur Bubli)
- Dus Bahaane - Dus
- Mahabali Maharudra - Hanuman
- kaal Dhaamal- kaal
- Tinka Tinka - Karam
- Yeh Zindagi - Kasak
- Dil Keh raha hai - Kyon Ki
- Just Chill
- Khaali Hai tere bina - Paheli
- Raat Hamari toh - chitra
- My dil goes -Salaam Namaste

EMusic
It has been a very long time since I have had any post on this blog, because I have been doing some serious blogging at other place. Anyways, these days, after listening to Kabir by Abida Parveen, I became fan of her voice and was searching for more of her songs when I saw there are so many songs hosted on www.EMusic.com, of corse there was a trial membership where we can download first 50 songs for free, guess what I enrolled in that and I downloaded some of her albums incldg., Baba Bulleh Shah Abida, Best Of Abida Parveen, Raqs-e-Bismil, some Anup Jalota songs, but I still had some free credit to download. Then I casually looked for Alaap, I didnt expect to return some results but indeed it returned me all the songs from the movie. Great!!! I couldnt even find those songs to listen on any of the popular website, so I bought a DVD of the movie, but I got the songs. I loved the moment. Hail the revolution of internet. I am going to back them up on my external hard drive. WORLD!!! does anybody need Alaap Songs.
I think this is the only movie where Yesudas sings forAmitabh. The music is simply beautiful by Jaidev. Koi gata, main so jata - is my fave.

Ghazals...
I passed out my BTech and joined MTech at REC Warangal. People used to call me/my room as radio station as the songs were always playing. What a coincidence my roomate Maruti Prasad ALSO hated songs while reading!!
Story repeat I promised him that I would not put a big volume of music, he agreed but he was never convinced that listening to music will do any good to him so he started to studying in a different room with his friend. I wasnt happy about this though. The first thing everybody used to listen to in the morning was ARR's Maa Tujhe Salaam. It was fun then. I used to get a handsome money as my stipend. Other than paying off mess bills and others I used save bunch of money and guess what this is money and this is the time I built my great collection of all good movies. Ofcourse all tapes which are obsolete now. But I have a history with each of the tape so I never felt like discarding them even though I have CD version of them now.
This is the time I first listened to Ghazals. I have a funny anecdote in this regard. Our house owner in Bhainsa is a lawyer and he had his family in Warangal and my brother Mohan asked me to call him once when he is in town. So that way, our acquaintance grew and I went to their place couple of times and he had 2 daughthers one studying in 7 and the other in 5 classes. He requested little help in giving them some Math lessons. So I was visiting them often to help the girls out in their Math. His wife had a great collection of the cassettes and duly compliemented her on that. And I asked her if I can borrow Marasim - Jagjit/Gulzar album. That is the first time I really listened to ghazals. I liked them with Gulzar's occassional shayari in between songs. I had actually listened to Anoop Jalota in my childhood but I didnt have that maturity then. Now I am big fan of ghazals. Jagjit Singh comes first in the list of Ghazal singers. I have a huge collection of his songs. Of the great singers, I have like Jagjit/ Anoop Jalota/ Ghulam Ali/ Talat Aziz/ Abida Parveen/Asha and many others.
Talking of Anoop Jalota, I remember listening to him for the first time when I was a boy of may be 9/10 years. There was this temple near my house which used to play Bhajans in the evening and I remember "Aisi Lagan Lagi Lagan"- awesome were songs. I didnt make any sense meaning-wise, and ofcourse even today not much I can make out of them, but they always remind me of my childhood. He is aptly called "Bhajan Samrat". I feel his voice is best suited for Bhajans.
Faves...
At this time I was mostly listening and collecting songs of Kishore Kumar(as most of AB songs were sung by KK then). I was constantly listening to radio and recording any good songs being played on radio. By this time, it was a religion to turn on the radio immediately after coming from college at 5 and turning on the Warangal Radio at night for some more good songs at 8 in the night. Even for my roomate Pramod got used to all these things. Kumar Sanu/ Kishore Kumar / Lata / Asha were my faves then . People used to say I used to imitate Kumar Sanu :-)
Even Shanker Mahadevan impressed me around this time with his album Breathless, it was great and I also remember his jingle for 5-star choclate. Dinaker Rajesh once brought Lucky Ali's first album Sunoh, the songs were really really offbeat but I started like his voice. I felt there was depth in his voice. Some people say he only sings tragic/sad songs, but I dont agree with that, and I believe that he has less variation when compared to others but he has great voice. A funny incident about this album is that I bought the album's first edition/release at Rs. 30 and then somehow I lost the album after 1 1/2 years or so but I never wanted to miss the songs and so I again went to buy the album but the price was Rs. 65/-. Hmm... now it is expensive (I remember it was carried by BMG crescendo).
I finished my BTech., in 1999 and many of my friends even today think that My Stereo and My music a great part of their good memories in Bheemaram. Chinna Reddy is one among them. People have also mostly associated song Kabhi Kabhie to me. The first thing that they recall when they listen to this song is me.
